    All individual combinations will be scored using the performance formula, the points resulting from that will then be added and the team score and the highest score wins. In the past we understand a percentage according to the distance was established; e.g. 80 km = 10% of 800km and so on. However we feel that the effort for a novice rider to achieve 32km is similar to that of an experienced rider doing 64 km or an ER for example! - so please remind your riders that heart rate is important at final vetting.

    We would like to give 7 extra points added to the PF points for young or veteran rider/horses (these added benefits were not very clear in the past!)

    7 extra points will also be given for each achieved 'must have' criteria as we are aware that some teams struggle to find the required number of combinations!

    The Team must include;

  • 2x ER's [Advanced riders and horses]
  • 2x 65km [Open riders and horses]
  • 2x 40km or 32km [ Novice riders and horses]
  • Each team should include 3 YR or Juniors
  •

    Aims and objectives

  • 1] To produce teams with a balanced cross section of all members and participants from within the regions
  • 2] To encourage participation from all ages and levels of experience
  • 3] To produce a true Championship, which will be a Major Event in the calendar
  •

    Proposals and reasoning

    The event should take place over two days, longer distances and ER's on the first day and CR's on the second [so that Team members can support each other and learn from the more experienced]. This event will give riders at all levels experience within the Team environment giving them an insight into the world of competitive Endurance Riding within a protected, secure competition where they can benefit from the support and encouragement of the Chef D'Equipe and the more experienced Team members. And in the true spirit of the competition, to be an ideal opportunity for Novice combinations ( Newcomers ) to compete in a supported environment. The Inter-Regional Championship also provides an opportunity for Selectors and Chef to see up and coming talent that can be encouraged to progress to Home International and eventually International Teams.
